Error: a required field is missing
The importer needs symbol, side, entry price, volume or quantity, and P&L. If the preview says one is missing, check whether the selected report is a summary without individual trades, whether the header is on a later row, or whether the broker export contains orders and fills in separate sections. Try a trade-history export with one row per closed trade.
Do not map account balance, current price, total deposits or another unrelated column into the missing field.
If a required heading is present but not recognized, open the column mapping guide. The heading may use an alias such as “instrument”, “quantity”, “direction” or “realized P&L”. Confirm by meaning, not by guesswork.
Error: invalid entry price or volume
Entry price must be a positive number and volume must be greater than zero. Check for currency symbols, locale-specific separators, text markers or a spreadsheet row that contains a subtotal instead of a trade. Ensure that a quantity column is not blank and that the chosen price is an entry or average entry—not an exit price or market quote.
A volume expressed as units, contracts, shares or lots should be interpreted consistently with your source account.
If your file uses a comma as the decimal separator, thousands separators or parenthetical negatives, inspect the preview values carefully. Save a fresh CSV from the broker if opening and re-saving the workbook altered its number formatting.
Error: buy/sell or P&L looks reversed
Direction should come from the broker’s side/type/action column, not from whether the trade won or lost. Check a known short/sell and a known long/buy against the broker history. Confirm that P&L uses a signed realized amount and that a loss remains negative.
If the report has gross and net P&L, determine which one you want; if commission and swap are already included in net P&L, do not subtract them again.
Error: timestamps are missing or shifted
A timestamp may be optional, but when it is present it should represent the event you intend to review. Broker exports can use server time, UTC, local time or an explicit report timezone. Compare the same execution in the broker terminal and CSV.
OANDA’s HUB guide, for example, says its report uses the selected timezone; Exness and MetaTrader history can follow their own export conventions. Record the timezone and keep it consistent across batches.
Error: trade count or net result does not match
Compare the same account, closed/open status, date range, currency and report filters in both products. Check whether the export includes partial closes as separate rows, groups multiple fills, excludes archived history, or includes deposits and fees. A one-row-per-execution file may not match a one-row-per-position summary. Do not delete rows merely to force totals to match; first understand what each row represents.
When importing a second batch, choose the existing account that represents the same broker account and use clear date boundaries. Avoid overlapping periods while diagnosing. Keep a record of imported ranges, and review duplicates in the preview before proceeding.
Error: the workbook has multiple sheets or report sections
Choose the sheet that contains the trade rows rather than a summary, balance or instrument lookup table. If the statement is sectioned or combines unrelated activity, create a clean copy with a single header row and only the completed trade rows and needed columns. Preserve the original privately so you can compare and repeat the transformation.
Never include credentials, passwords, API keys or support PINs in the file.
Safe recovery checklist
- Cancel the current upload and keep the source file unchanged.
- Export a smaller closed-trade date range or a trade-focused report.
- Remove personal/account identifiers from any sample you share.
- Confirm the five required fields and map each by its documented meaning.
- Compare five representative rows and totals against the broker.
- Retry only after the preview is accurate.
